  • Act as a representative of the psychology service / profession as required.

  • Ensure service delivery in varied locations in line with local policy, guidelines and best practice.

  • Ensure that staff work within the limits of professional competence and in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance.

  • Represent and advocate for the psychological needs of service users throughout the service.

  • Promote and work in an ethical and professional manner at all times.

  • Be aware of and refer the service user to other services as necessary.

  • Encourage, Initiate and participate in needs assessment and health promotion as appropriate.

  • Deputise for the Principal Psychology Manager or other Principal Clinical Psychologists as appropriate / required.

  • Promote a culture that values diversity and respect in the workplace.



    Education & Training

    • Attend mandatory training programmes and ensure that all reporting staff do so.

    • Be informed of advances in professional knowledge and practice and ensure their dissemination.

    • Be informed of developments in national policies, strategies and legislation and perceived impact on practice.

    • Participate in continuous professional development initiatives and ensure compliance with statutory registration requirements for themselves and for reporting staff.
    • In collaboration with the Principal Psychology Manager, attend training courses as informed by service requirements and career & personal development planning.


    • Ensure that Psychologists in Mental Health receive appropriate levels of clinical supervision, as required under professional registration standards

    • Engage in and utilise supervision effectively with the Principal Psychology Manager

    • Be responsible for the induction of new staff.

    • Actively engage in and guide the development, mentoring and training of staff under his/her remit.

    • Provide professional supervision to staff under his/her remit.

    • Manage and provide supervised training placements to those in professional post graduate psychology training as required and in line with the organisations commitments.

    • Act as a resource by participating in the education of psychologists, other health professionals and service user groups as required.



    Health & Safety

    • Contribute to and comply with the development of policies, procedures and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards and ensure CAMHS Psychology staff compliance with same.

    • Remain informed of, and implement, Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards and HSE Standards as they apply to the role, for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards, etc.

    • Ensure CAMHS Psychology staff compliance with these standards
    • Ensure line manager responsibilities regarding Health and Safety for Psychology staff in CAMHS are met in full




    Management

    • Be responsible, as directed by the Principal Psychology Manager and in collaboration with the senior management of Community Health Office – Area 7 for the management of psychology resources, including the development, recruitment, retention and maintenance of psychology staffing within Linn Dara CAMHS.

    • Provide line management supervision to assigned psychology staff and co-ordinate and manage psychology service delivery across the CAMHS.

    • Assign duties and responsibilities to ensure effective service delivery.

    • Ensure the maintenance of appropriate service user records and statistics in accordance with HSE requirements and local guidelines, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant legislation.

    • Provide service reports / data as required.

    • Undertake responsibility for service evaluation to facilitate improved services and integrated care.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of information sharing protocols, audit systems, referral pathways and integrated care arrangements.

    • Actively participate in the development and continuing improvement initiatives of psychology services in conjunction with the Principal Psychology Manager and relevant others.

    • Contribute to policy development, performance monitoring, business / service planning and budgetary control in CAMHS in conjunction with the Principal Psychology Manager and the Area management team in the Community Health Office – Area 7.
    • Maintain an awareness of Human Resource (HR) policies and procedures / engage in recruitment processes and other HR functions as required.


    • Assist in ensuring that the psychological service makes the most efficient and effective use of developments in Information Technology (IT).

    • Maintain professional standards with regard to service user and data confidentiality.

    • Keep up to date with organisational developments within the Irish Health Service
