*On June 30, 1908, Red Sox pitcher Cy Young walked the New York Yankees|New York Highlanders' leadoff batter, Harry Niles, who was caught stealing. No one else reached base against Young, who also had three hits and four RBIs in Boston's 8–0 win. It was the third no-hitter of Young's career and about as close as possible to being his second perfect game.Elston (2006), pp. 173–174. He is the only pitcher in major league history to retire 27 consecutive men in a game on two separate occasions.
